As November’s crisp air whispered promises of holiday cheer, our family set off on an extraordinary adventure aboard the Disney Dream, sailing out of Fort Lauderdale. The moment we stepped onto the ship, it felt like we had entered a fairy tale. The festive decorations sparkled like stardust, and the enchanting melodies of beloved Disney tunes wrapped us in a warm embrace of holiday magic.
A Perfect Start
To kick off our journey, we arrived a day early and indulged in a stay at the luxurious Four Seasons, just a stone’s throw from Port Everglades. It was the ideal prelude to our adventure, providing a serene oasis before the excitement began.
Setting Sail
Once we boarded the Disney Dream, the holiday spirit enveloped us like a warm hug. We loved having two adjoining rooms, giving everyone their own space while keeping us connected. The ship was a wonderland of Christmas decorations, with a magnificent tree sparkling in the main atrium, setting the stage for our festive adventure.
Dining Delights
Our dining experience was nothing short of magical, thanks to the rotational dining system. Each night, we enjoyed different themed restaurants, each with its own unique ambiance and menu. The culinary delights were complemented by Broadway-style shows, including an unforgettable performance of Disney’s *Beauty and the Beast*. The talented cast transported us to a world of enchantment, leaving us spellbound.
The Thrill of Pirate Night
As the sun dipped below the horizon, excitement filled the air on Pirate Night. Special appearances by Captain Hook and a lively pirate show transformed the deck into a swashbuckling adventure. The grand fireworks display that lit up the night sky was the perfect climax to an unforgettable evening.
Celebrating Christmas at Sea
The Very Merry Christmas Deck Party was a magical celebration. Watching the entire Mickey and Friends gang dancing and celebrating together filled us with joy, and the festive spirit was infectious. We indulged in delightful Christmas treats and freshly popped popcorn during the Broadway shows, adding a sweet touch to our evenings.
Discovering Private Islands
Our journey also took us to two enchanting private islands, Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point both exclusive to Disney. With only guests from our ship present, the islands felt like our own slice of paradise. We reserved private family cabanas on both islands, enjoying VIP treatment that made us feel truly special. The cabanas provided privacy and luxury, complete with comfortable lounge chairs and personalized service.
We savored a delicious BBQ lunch with stunning beach views while the kids splashed in the waves, riding the surf and collecting seashells along the shore—each one a tiny treasure from our day in paradise.
We chose to spend our day in Nassau aboard the ship, enjoying the pools and water slides. The amenities on the Disney Dream were endless, providing our family with plenty of fun and relaxation.
A Magical Transformation
One unforgettable experience unfolded when my six-year-old twins, Scout and Ransome, along with my son Gunner, who is autistic, entered the magical world of the Bibbidi-Bobbidi Boutique. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as the little ones prepared for their transformations. The Disney cast members showed such warmth and understanding toward Gunner, ensuring he felt comfortable and included. As they sprinkled pixie dust over the kids, the magic truly came to life. Watching Scout become the Little Mermaid, her eyes sparkling with joy, and Ransome don his Captain Mickey outfit was not just a moment—it was a magical experience that filled our hearts with wonder and pride.
Fun and Friendship at the Kids’ Club
The Disney Oceaneer Club was a treasure trove of adventure for all three kids—Scout, Ransome, and Gunner. Here, they could explore a world of fun in a safe, engaging environment. The counselors are specially trained to work with children with special needs, fostering an accommodating atmosphere. Gunner flourished while participating in interactive games, arts and crafts, and imaginative play, while Scout and Ransome dove into everything the club had to offer. From visits by beloved Disney characters to endless entertainment options, the kids had a blast and made lasting memories.
A Royal Tea Experience
A special moment for my daughter came during the exclusive Royal Tea event. We sipped tea and enjoyed delightful treats while interacting with beloved princesses. The heartfelt interactions made it feel like a dream, and Scout twirled in her dress, soaking in every magical second.
Cherished Memories
Every moment spent on the Disney Dream was filled with laughter, wonder, and togetherness. From spectacular shows and themed parties to serene beaches and special experiences, our cruise wove a beautiful tapestry of family memories. The care and attention the Disney staff showed to all children, especially those with special needs, made our experience even more magical. As we sailed back to port, we knew this was just the beginning of our own magical stories, and we couldn’t wait to share our adventures with others.
